Small Punch Creep and Fatigue

Phoenix has supplied both mechanical and hydraulic systems into the UK and Europe to carry out Small Punch Creep Testing in accordance with CEN CWA 15 627:2007.

Small Punch testing is carried out using fatigue testing machines on a sample approximately 0.5mm thick x 8.5mm in diameter, this allows a complete test programme to be carried out on less material than a single traditional creep specimen.

Phoenix is involved with the ongoing evolution and development of this technique, including measurement and heating methods, as it moves towards becoming a full European test standard.

In addition to this, we have worked with UK universities to develop fixtures and instrumentation to carry out Small Punch Fatigue Tests which can be retrofitted into a standard hydraulic test frame of any make.
