Temperature Measurement & Control

Our temperature measurement options include furnaces, infrared emitters, and induction heating.

About Our High Temperature and Environmental Systems

Our systems are equipped with the latest sensors for the control and measurement of temperature, pressure, atmosphere, force and strain.

High temperature and environmental testing is an area that is currently of great interest to some key sectors, such as nuclear and aerospace, as they endeavour to replicate accurate service conditions for materials and components, to decouple and quantify the effects of different thermal and environmental effects on failure. The materials undergoing these tests – including metals, composites and ceramics – are usually expensive and in short supply, therefore the test samples are increasingly small in size.

As new materials are developed that are extremely strong, and designed to work in very hot and harsh environments, the equipment needed to test their performance must be even better than these new super materials.

In order to deliver the necessary innovation and technology needed to support our customers, we dedicate significant time and resources to the research and development of new, accurate and versatile, high temperature and environmental testing equipment.

Testimonials

Phoenix designed and installed a full ring main and power pack, which has reliably supplied 180lpm of oil to the machines in our test lab since 2010.

Bamber Blackman, Reader in the Mechanics of Materials, Imperial College London

Phoenix has offered us all round support, from servicing and calibrating our in-house equipment, to designing and building machines that comply with the new industry test standards, as well as carrying out sub-contract testing that allowed us to maintain our product accreditation

Stuart Ramella, Technical Manager, Polypipe Civils

Our research has often led us to modify existing machines in order to try unusual testing regimes. Phoenix are our ‘company of choice’ when it comes to this sort of machine modification

Dave Price, Manager Structural Materials Group, University of Birmingham
