Load cells are a device used within universal test machines to convert forces such as pressure, compression, or tension into an electrical signal. Load cells will deteriorate over time due to general wear and tear and regular use, so it is essential that regular calibration is carried out so that load cell readings remain accurate, giving reliable data and test results. If load cell calibrations are not carried out regularly, then the load cell will become less reliable, causing the readings to drift. We recommend load cells are calibrated on an annual basis to ensure mechanical testing applications have full test result accuracy. If a test laboratory looks to maintain a bespoke schedule of calibrations, Phoenix can support with this.
For calibration up to 1000kN, load cells should be shipped to our testing laboratory in Brierley Hill. Once a calibration is complete, load cells will be shipped back to the customer’s premises. For calibrations services up to 50kN, our technicians can travel to a customer’s premises and use portable manual loading frames to calibrate load cells on site.
Phoenix can calibrate a variety of load cell brands, full details of which can be found here
