High Temperature Testing

We are continuously developing and investing in high temperature testing and environmental capability, to support product and material development, particularly for test requirements that do not fall within the range of traditional test regimes and standards.

Overview

We offer sub-contract elevated temperature testing with fully controlled heating and cooling profiles which can be phased in sync or out of sync with other modes of control (load, stroke, strain) as required.  Even where there is an existing international standard, such as TMF, our customers often want to replicate the conditions that their parts or materials see in service.

We can test samples at up to 2000°C*, with different heating methods to suit the sample geometry, material and test specifications.

In addition to the heating and cooling options, we also have a range of chambers and equipment for controlling the test environment, including:

  • Induction heating
  • Forced air cooling
  • Pyrometry that can compensate for changes in emissivity of the sample surface
  • Thermal imaging
  • High temperature extensometry

High temperature testing and environmental testing can be carried out on any of our test laboratory machines from 120N up to 1.6MN (1600kN).

*UKAS accredited to 1,000°C.

  • High temperature testing up to 2000°C*
  • Specialist testing equipment and machines for extreme temperature testing
  • Full contract review and testing consultancy for our expert team

Test Specification Consultancy

Some of our customers require high temperature testing on new materials or prototype products that have not yet been carried out. Our test specification consultancy service helps you to identify what data is needed.

If you require high temperature testing services, but do not have a detailed test specification, our test lab technicians are on hand to give you help and advice to define the right testing application for your needs, offering you quality assurance for your product or component, and replicating in-service conditions as closely as possible to achieve reliable, accurate results.

TMF Software

If you need to carry out TMF testing and require a bespoke control system or TMF software package, our Alpha Digital Control System is the solution for you. Our control system and software is fully designed and written in-house to support our customers with their testing procedures. Our Alpha Control Systems are available on all of our Phoenix test machines, or can be upgraded onto any make of test machine.

Our Phoenix Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue (TMF) Software is designed to allow full control of the heating methods and cycles during TMF testing, and is written to the latest international TMF standards, with additional features to allow tailored TMF research.
