Controlled Environmental Testing*

Our materials testing laboratory is equipped with chambers and environmental controls that allow us to test samples under vacuum, or in various inert or corrosive gas environments.

Overview

Controlled environment testing often requires our customers to replicate a range of “in service” environments and temperatures, as these factors can affect the failure of a sample. Our chambers are extremely versatile and allow us to carry out tests in a variety of conditions in controlled environments.

We also offer humidity-controlled testing*, with our latest environmental chambers designed to withstand pressures of up to 100bar*.

The flexibility of our chambers, combined with our specialist instrumentation and controls, means that we can perform a number of different tests under controlled temperature and controlled environmental conditions.

  • Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue (TMF)
  • Strain controlled testing (static and fatigue)
  • Non-contact temperature control, using thermography and pyrometry
  • Potential Drop (PD) Crack Propagation
  • Three-point and four-point bend
  • Fatigue (HCF, LCF, and customer specific profiles)
  • High rate tensile and compression

Environmental Chambers

If you require environmental testing equipment within your own laboratory or facilities, we are able to design and manufacture bespoke environmental chambers that can be retrofitted to any make of test machine.

The Phoenix Environmental Chamber is suitable for carrying out high temperature testing up to 2000°C* and  temperatures down to -190°C**. Our environmental chambers are also ideal for testing in various environmental conditions.

*UKAS accredited from ambient temperatures to 1,000°C.

Pressure Testing*

In addition to environmental testing, we are also heavily involved in the development of first-in-class high pressure and low pressure testing applications. Our environmental chambers are capable of testing at low pressures to 3bar, and our latest range of chambers are designed to test at high pressures** (up to 100bar).

If you are interested in subcontract pressure testing, please contact us and we can discuss your requirements.
